Jennifer’s newest novel, The Wedding Quilt, inspired this soft and romantic fabric collection. Classic wedding flowers – roses and calla lilies – are set against a creamy, white ground to create the exquisite focal print. The thematic stripe combines wide bands of these same flowers separated by narrow trellis-style stripes. What wedding would be complete without a touch of lace! There is a softly, flowing lace pattern in tonal shades of cream, muted sage and pink. The Double Wedding Ring quilt is the quintessential wedding design! This fabric collection uses that pattern to create a striking, small scale print that combines rose and green rings against a snowy ground. A sweet, tiny rosebud is centered within the center of each ring. Inspired by the heroine of The Sugar Camp Quilt, Jennifer Chiaverini's latest fabric line blends historical designs and contemporary colors to create a mix of patterns as delightful and intriguing as Dorothea herself. The Signature Floral print, featuring the narcissus, water lily, and rose, draws upon the nineteenth-century "Language of Flowers" -- the conceit that every flower has a symbolic meaning and that arrangements of flowers can send coded messages. Gerda’s Collection

Quiltmakers will love the stirring colors and wonderful textures in "Elm Creek Quilts -- Gerda's Collection," Jennifer Chiaverini's second fabric line for Red Rooster Fabrics. These historical reproduction fabrics are from the 1850s through the 1890s, covering the span of THE RUNAWAY QUILT, Jennifer's fourth novel. Designing this collection challenged Jennifer and Anna Fishkin of Red Rooster Fabrics to research vintage fabric swatches for inspiration and historical accuracy. "I wanted the designs to be typical of those Gerda might have used," Jennifer says, "but I also wanted them to evoke Gerda's personality and the mood of Elm Creek Manor in its earliest years." The resulting fabrics--dazzling florals, paisleys, fern stripes, leaves, and an exquisite portrait of Elm Creek Manor in rich, vibrant hues--will allow Jennifer's legion of readers to recreate the quilts described in THE RUNAWAY QUILT, as well as inspire them to make new creations all their own.

Sylvia’s Collection

The fabrics in Jennifer Chiaverini's first fabric line for Red Rooster Fabrics were inspired by the lilacs, roses and ivy, elms and other natural elements in the gardens at Elm Creek Manor, Sylvia's ancestral home and the site of quilters' retreats. Quiltmakers enjoy Jennifer's stories because the hopes and dreams of the fictional circle of friends parallel their own. Jennifer understands the humor and sorrow, exhilaration and exasperation that are part of our personal and quiltmaking experiences. She also understands fabric. Sylvia's collection was introduced by Red Rooster Fabrics to independent quilt shop owners at Spring International Quilt Markey May 2-4, 2003, in Portland, Oregon.
