The Wedding Quilt Novel and Pin Available from Next Chapter Books

The Wedding Quilt

My Elm Creek Quilts pins have become so popular that I've decided to design a new pin for each new novel. The new pin for The Wedding Quilt features a motif from "Caroline's Wedding," a quilt that plays a significant role in the story.

You can receive a limited edition The Wedding Quilt pin of your very own if you come see me on my book tour from November 1-17, 2011. I'll be visiting several of my favorite shops and libraries across the country and will give away a pin with each copy of The Wedding Quilt you have me sign at that store, while supplies last. For book tour locations, dates, and times, please see the Events page page on my website. You can also find a list of events on my Facebook fan site by clicking on the "Events" link in the left sidebar.

Can't make it one of my events? The wonderful booksellers at the Next Chapter Bookshop in Mequon are ready to help. If you  pre-order The Wedding Quilt from the Next Chapter Bookshop website, they will include a The Wedding Quilt pin with your book when they ship it to you. I will autograph the books when I visit the store on November 2, 2011, so all orders need to be placed before then. If you would like your book to be personalized, please be sure to indicate the name of the person to whom the book should be addressed.

Quantities are limited, so make your plans to attend one of my book tour events or place your order with the Next Chapter Bookshop soon.

Thanks, and Happy Reading!

New Event at Broadway Quilts in Sonoma, California

Thursday, June 02, 2011 | Announcements, Event News

Since it's been three months since The Union Quilters came out and The Wedding Quilt won't be published until November 1, you might not have noticed the most recent addition to my Events page. I'm going to be meeting readers and quilters at Broadway Quilts in Sonoma, California on Sunday, June 5 at 1 PM. I haven't visited northern California in several years, so I hope to meet lots of Elm Creek Readers there very soon!

“A Night with Jennifer Chiaverini”: A Benefit for Project Linus

Saturday, May 14, 2011 | Announcements, Event News

When was the last time a New York Times best-selling author asked for help from the community to create characters for a book?

Jennifer Chiaverini, the author of the Elm Creek Quilts novels, did just that.  Jennifer is a mother, best-selling author, avid quilter and a supporter of Project Linus.  Ms. Chiaverini asked for help from her readers, Project Linus volunteers, and the community to determine the gender of expectant mother Sarah’s twins. To cast their “votes,” readers and volunteers created quilt blocks from a provided pattern, using red fabrics if they wanted Sarah to have two girls, blue fabrics for two boys, and purple for a boy and a girl. After quilters from around the word contributed more than a thousand quilt squares, Jennifer tallied the votes and is preparing to announce the winner!

"I was thrilled with the overwhelming response to my request for quilt blocks for Project Linus,” Jennifer Chiaverini says. “Readers have been waiting a long time to learn whether Sarah will have boys, girls, or one of each, and it hasn’t been easy keeping this secret from them! I’m looking forward to revealing the result of the vote in an exclusive, sneak preview reading from The Wedding Quilt at the Project Linus Institute.”

On Friday, July 22 at 6:30 PM at the Peoria Civic Center, Illinois, everyone is invited to A Night with Jennifer Chiaverini: A Benefit for Project Linus.  Ms. Chiaverini will be sharing excerpts from her soon to be released book, The Wedding Quilt.  Quilts made from the “votes” will be on display, and she will announce the gender of Sarah’s twins! This is a night for book lovers, quilting enthusiasts and anyone that knows the power of a handmade blanket given to a child in need.

Tickets are available for $50 per person. Your ticket price includes keynote speaker Jennifer Chiaverini, dinner, viewing of quilts from the nationwide contest and supporting a great cause, Project Linus.  Tickets are available at http://www.projectlinus.org/institutedinner.html or call 309-585-0686 for more information.

Carolyn Beam of Quiltmaker magazine blogged about my visit to their offices during my book tour stop in Denver. I'm glad they had as much fun as I did!
